100% Fixing You Have Not Been Authorized to Use This Domain | Blogger SSL Error
Fixing blogger SSL error —
How do I verify the domain using CNAME for blogger? Why blogger still complaining about not being authorized to use this domain? Getting error while implimenting SSL on mapping custom domains? How to fix domain url without www not working for blogger?
While working on CloudFlare, setting up free Cloudflare CDN for blogger, turning on HTTPS for the blog, I got an error on the blogger, "You have not been authorized to use this domain. Please follow the settings instructions"
Then I followed each step and waited for some days then I again tried from the scratch. Even though I changed my domain nameserver settings, names, DNS records, and set it back to the original defaults. But still, I didn't succeed. I got failed even after I added the IP A records & TXT verification too.
Moreover, I observed that the error of "You have not been authorized to use this domain, please follow the settings instructions" is also occurring for subdomain configuration. You purchase a domain, apply it to a blogger blog, but most of the time, the user opens your site without 'WWW' link, and so most visitors complain that your website and its content are not reachable. Since your site is not configured to redirect to the main domain you might be facing the error of "We have not been able to verify your authority" and "can't enable HTTPS". So you need to turn on redirection and HTTPS for Blogger blog with a custom domain.
SSL encryption
Every publisher knows that SSL encryption has been mandated of all browsers for the last couple of years. If you don't include it now, you get the alarming 'Not Secure' warning to all visitors from the address bar.Previously, in case you have a blogger blog with a custom domain name, it was somewhat expensive to purchase an SSL certificate and difficult to apply SSL on a blogger blog. But from the last few years, Google is now started to provide free SSL certificates to all blogger blogs and suitably extended HTTPS to blogger sites using custom domains too. Google has been offering HTTPS for subdomains of blogspots too.
And when I was trying to implement SSL with blogger, I got that error "You are not authorized to use this domain", but why? I own my domain, I am the admin of the blog, I can edit blogger HTML, and even I've authorized owner of the website, still why I am getting an error of authorizing the blog.
Then, to be honest, after lots of googling, I got to know that, the domain name older than ten years, the DNS configuration, and txt codes have been changed and updated to new by Google itself. So we need to update it again to the primary domain registrar. Here you need to delete your domain name from blogger and again add the same with the new CNAME, TXT, IP A configuration into your domain provider.
Copy the default CNAME information in notepad as the information is unique to your domain.
Turning ON SSL on Blogger with You Are Not Authorized Error
As I said, you need to remove your domain from blogger (it seems risky, but no need to worry,) you can add the same domain and start working in 30-40 min. So understand the following steps and implement as I mentioned below.Follow steps for enabling SSL on blogger with you are not authorized error:
- Remove the custom domain first from your blogger blog:
- Remove the complete domain name configuration from a blogger by deleting "www(.)yourdomain(.)com" in the text box near to HTTP://
- Adding custom domain name again:
Adding the same domain name as a fresh entry followed by DNS configuration, CNAME entries, and redirect.- Login to your account >> go to dashboard page >> find your domain >> go to 'Manage DNS'
- Now in DNS configuration >> check Host Records >> Now remove any CNAME records.
- Now you need to add new CNAME records as blogger provided.
- Turning on the setting "HTTPS availability":
- Go to Blogger dashboard >> Settings >> Basic >> Publishing >> Blog Address >> Click on "Edit"
- This will show the message saying "HTTPS Availability is being processed. Try again later."
- No need to worry, it means that the Blogger server processing the requested SSL. Wait for 20 to 30 minutes before retrying and the message should no longer be there.
